Dovercourt Recreation Centre

411 Dovercourt Ave. , Ottawa, Ontario, K2A 0S9

www.Dovercourt.org

Dovercourt Recreation Association (DRA) is a not for profit charitable organization (Registered Charity No. 11944 4263 RR0001) dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community through recreation programs. In 1983, the City of Ottawa began work on the planning of a new community centre to replace the Westboro Community Centre. DRA was actively involved in the process, and when the new centre opened in 1987, Dovercourt was given the responsibility of managing the new centre through a service agreement. While we are part of the City of Ottawa’s recreation system, DRA is empowered to choose what programs it runs to meet the community’s needs, and how those programs are delivered. Our motto is "A Community Working For the Community, Une communauté qui travaille pour la communauté". Staff, volunteers, clients, local community groups and businesses working together…that’s Dovercourt!

Dovercourt Recreation Association is Eastern Ontario’s only High Five Accredited organization, providing the highest standard of recreation programming for children in Ottawa. Children will find High Five certified leaders in every Aquatic, Recreation, Camp and After-School program.

Manotick Arts Camp

Looking for creative activities for your children? The Manotick Arts Camp offers quality education in drama, vocal and instrumental music, dance and visual art. We offer day camps throughout the summer for ages 6-16. Two-week programs – the focus is to stage a show for the parents and community on the last evening of camp. One-week programs – an introductory program for younger kids who will showcase what they learned on the last afternoon of camp. Performance Troupe for teens (2-week page to stage program). Students write and perform their own show as well as receive leadership training in working with younger students.  Professionals for each area teaching your child. For the 2-week programs, students concentrate on one area of drama, vocal, instrumental music, dance and visual art, but will also learn a bit about every other area. We mix it up with fun & creative camp activities. This program is great for development and so much fun! Great times in the summer, learning new skills and forging friendships to last a lifetime.

We offer once a week programs:

            Music for Wee Ones

            Drama classes for teens

Real Programming for Kids

Real Programming 4 Kids provides a rich and challenging learning environment for all skill levels, with all the fun of video games. We have taught computer programming to thousands of Ontario kids and teens since 2000.

Creating and programming a video game offers the most complete application of math, physics, creativity, problem solving, and communication skills. Without math, video games wouldn't exist. All of our courses apply math from 2D coordinate grids and negative numbers right up to 3D vectors, and trigonometry.

Imagine your child learning University level Computer Programming while still a kid! RP4K has a long track record of helping kids prepare for and achieve amazing results in their Post-Secondary computer science programs. This creates the possibility for an exciting career in the fast growing video game design industry.

Real Programming 4 Kids teaches kids and teens how to use real game industry-standard computer programming software just like the pros. Your child can learn real programming languages like Visual Basic, Java, C# and C++.

Kids learn best in our focused classes with a maximum of just 4 students per instructor!

Read our testimonials, we guarantee your satisfaction. If you aren’t satisfied after your child attends the first two classes of an RP4K course, you can withdraw them from our program before the third class and receive a 100% refund for the course!

Your 7 to 17 year-old kids can start learning the fundamentals of computer science, and reveal the secrets of video game design today. No prior programming experience needed to begin.

It all starts when you call to schedule a free, no obligation assessment class in Toronto, Ottawa, Oshawa, London, Waterloo, Etobicoke, Richmond Hill or Oakville.
