SUMMARY:BFO Ottawa - The Butterfly Memorial Event - June 12\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:At 3 pm on Sunday\, June 12th\, 2022 Bereaved Families of Ontario – Ottawa Region (BFO Ottawa) will hold its  annual Butterfly Memorial Event at Beechwood\, Canada’s National Cemetery.   \nDue to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we are happy to announce that this year\, our ceremony will be in person as well as virtual. Participants will have the opportunity to submit names and photos of their loved ones when registering\, which will be displayed onscreen in a special event presentation.  \nDuring the event\, we will have the opportunity to listen to music\, inspirational poetry and words from volunteers and a special guest.  We are thrilled to have Tina Boileau as our distinguished guest speaker for 2022.  For the final part of the ceremony\, we move into the Beechwood gardens to release live Painted Lady butterflies in honour of our loved ones.  In addition to being the symbol for BFO Ottawa\, these butterflies carry special meaning for people experiencing grief. Having been through 2 difficult years as a community\, we hope that seeing these butterflies fluttering freely through the air on a warm June afternoon will bring some small comfort to everyone watching at home. \nThis event is a fundraiser for BFO Ottawa which helps fund our Support and Share programs\,  our closed groups and to continue to provide support to those grieving the loss of a loved one. You can view our website at bfo-ottawa.org\, or on our Facebook page @bfo.ottawa.  www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/bfo-ottawa/events/butterfly-memorial-event-2022/ \nAbout BFO Ottawa – Bereaved Families of Ontario – Ottawa Region \nBFO Ottawa is a small growing charity that inspires hope and healing for people grieving the loss of a loved one. We are a volunteer-run organization made up of people in the Ottawa region who have each experienced our own grief\, and who have decided to share our courage and knowledge with others.  \nOur expert facilitators run approximately 120 peer support groups each year\, which are attended by more than 2000 people in our community who need help and support in dealing with their grief that stems from many different types of losses.  \nWe are growing as an organization\, as more people continue to seek out our support each month\, and as more people participate in our memorial events. It is because of the generosity of the Ottawa community that we are able to offer our programs\, which are open to everyone.  \n
