Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe has offerings for all ages this upcoming season
Get ready for a great season of family entertainment from Meridian Theatres @ Centerpointe. The 2020 family shows are going to be a hit with all ages.
“We have some terrific shows coming up for the fall and winter season,” says Allan Sansom, Meridian Theatre’s artistic producer and manager. Very popular with families is Canto Sentimento String Quartet’s ‘Tea With…’ concerts. “The performance on Sunday, October 20 will feature music from well-known ballets,” says Sansom. “And the December 15 ‘Tea With’ will feature holiday classics.” Tickets must be purchased in person or by phone, and seating is limited, so they will sell out quickly.
For families with young teenagers, Dave Kalil and Tyler Kealey bring their quirky humour and piano-playing to ‘Dueling Pianos.’ Along with guitarist Todd Huckabone, this cabaret-styled show will delight with classic rock music from the 60s through the 80s. The entire family will laugh out loud with Ripopée on February 22, 2020. “This show is hilarious,” says Sansom, “and completely non-verbal. The split-second timing of their routines is amazing.” Younger kids will adore Llama Llama Live coming February 29, 2020. This popular Netflix series is brought to life by the Bay Area Children’s Theatre.
Spring 2020 will feature a couple of must-see shows for all ages. On April 24, 2020, Catapult Dance will be on stage with ‘The Magic of Shadow Dance.’ “You have to see this to believe it,” says Sansom. “These dancers were finalists on America’s Got Talent, and they performed at the Oscars some years back.” Coming May 20, 2020 is Anne of Green Gables: the Ballet™. This much-loved story is brought to life by Canada’s Ballet Jörgen.
