Your kids will Love It Love It

September 1, 2019By Sheryl Bennett-Wilson

Llama Llama comes to Meridian @ Centrepointe

Llama Llama Live!

Did you know that there is a Llama Llama book sold every 24 seconds and that this beloved book series is also an animated series on Netflix? Coming February 2020 to Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe is Llama Llama Live. Presented by The Bay Area Children’s Theatre, this lively and giggle-inducing musical production is ideal for three to six-year-olds. It’s based on the late Anna Dewdney’s book, Llama Llama Red Pajama, just one of her numerous Mama Llama and Baby Llama books. Dewdney’s books are not just fun – they are great to read aloud, and they encourage comprehension, values and decision making and how to connect to real life situations.

In Llama Llama Live, Baby Llama is faced with tidying up his room before he gets a bedtime story.  Every parent can relate to the bedtime story routine and The Bay Area Children’s Theatre adds a level of hilarity that children will enjoy, and parents will get. Baby Llama is frantically looking for his pajamas. He tears apart his room, only to be told by Mama Llama that they are in the wash. But now his room is a mess and he has to clean it up before he gets his bedtime story. Surprisingly, every time Mama Llama leaves the room, three of Baby Llama’s toys – Fuzzy, Dinosaur and Robot come to life and more mayhem ensues. Just what is Mama Llama doing downstairs? Baby Llama has some funny thoughts – all hilariously performed by The Bay Area Children’s Theatre’s singers and performers. Nina Meehan is a founding member of the theatre company and produces and directs Llama Llama Live. She has numerous awards for her productions and has directed classics such as James and the Giant Peach, Pippi Longstocking and a youth production of Pirates of Penzance.

In 2011, Llama Llama Red Pajama, set the world record for most readings of a book in one day. The book is also one of the 100 Greatest Books for Kids. Other Dewdney books have been nominated for their delightful illustrations and the Anna Dewdney Read-Together Award is given annually to a picture book that promotes compassion and empathy. Catch the live version – Llama Llama Live at Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe on the Mainstage on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. Find out more at www.meridiancentrepointe.com.
