New Canvas & Cocktails workshop offers parents a relaxed evening of fine wine, art and socializing.
Fine wine and art: what a perfect pairing. And during the new Canvas & Cocktails workshop, taking place April 1 at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, parents will get to savour both.***In this workshop, which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., explore your artistic side while learning about wine. Learn the basics of acrylic painting on a 16 x 20 canvas, then take home your artistic endeavours.
Professional art instructor Jadzia Romaniec guides through the steps to painting with honesty and feeling.***Choose from the image the instructor provides, or bring your own. The workshop is geared to beginners and designed for parents to have fun.
The workshop is limited to a class of 12, so there’s plenty of time for personal instruction. And it’s quite different from other paint nights.
There is plenty of flexibility to do your own thing and add a personal touch. Instructor Romaniec is there to guide and answer questions on technique, not structure your work.
While you’re channelling your inner Monet, you’ll be sipping on wines chosen by sommelier Vasko Delev. He’ll introduce you to wines in the $30 to $35 range.
His choices are aimed at acquainting you with different wines from around the world.
Delev will also provide advice on food pairing, and you’ll leave with his notes on the wines you’ve tasted. Delicious light snacks will accompany the wine.
Canvas & Cocktails is a perfect girls’ night out or relaxed couples evening. Many participants have returned. Some have told organizers the workshop helped them get back to painting or decide to pursue it further.
The workshop takes place in the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, a hidden gem located inside entrance #3 at the Nepean Sportsplex. If Canvas & Cocktails sounds like a great way to spend an evening, it’s easy to sign up. But do it soon, as space is limited to 12 people. Reserve a spot at 613-580-2424 ext. 46652 or visit www.ottawa.ca/ nepeanvisualartscentre. Enjoy an evening of fine wine and art, and maybe you’ll discover your inner artist.
